The remaster actually expands out the view correctly. In the original's widescreen mode, the top and bottom of the image are cut off. Field of view is much improved in the remasters. View distance might not be great on the original PS2 version, but we kind of like the foggy, smoggy bloom effect Rockstar utilised to hide the hardware deficiencies of the platform.
GTA SA FOR XBOX 360 720P
Xbox 360 is captured here at 720p and upscaled, while it looks like Android at max settings also upscales. Obviously on PS2, the situation isn't great in this regard. Draw distance - based on the palm trees on the right - appears to be similar between Xbox 360 and PC, while Android is left behind. 360 looks no better or worse than Android, ramped up to the max. It's clear that we're looking to two distinct iterations across the four versions of San Andreas - the originals (PS2, PC) and the remasters (360, Android). That probably sounds like a back-handed compliment, but after playing the Xbox 360 remaster for a while, we're actually glad the original game is still available somewhere.

In a move seemingly timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the game's release, the emulated Xbox version available through Games on Demand has been replaced by a new version that promises "720p resolution, enhanced draw distance and Achievement support".Ĭuriously, there isn't an equivalent new version of the game available on PlayStation 3.
